Kajmak (Cheese condiment)
Serves 6

A simple yet tasty Kajmak recipe you can make at home to enjoy with our cevapi.

Ingredients:
  • 250gms Philadelphia cream cheese
  • 300gms Sour cream
  • 1/2 cup of feta cheese (preferably Dodoni)

Method:
  1. Break up the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and soften with a fork.
  2. Add the sour cream and mix with the cream cheese, crumble feta cheese over the top and combine all ingredients together.
  3. Chill for 15 minutes in the refrigerator and serve as a side dish with the cevapi.
Cabbage salad (Kupus Salata)
Serves 4

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 head of cabbage
  • 1/3 cup of olive oil (approximately)
  • 1/3 cup Apple cider vinegar (approximately)

Some may like their salad less vinegary, use this amount as a guide.

Method:
  1. Slice cabbage finely using a Mandolin slicer, it's important that this method is used for best results as the dressing makes it's way into the cabbage better.
  2. Place the shredded cabbage in a large bowl.
  3. First, drizzle the olive oil, add salt to taste (a decent covering of salt works best).
  4. Then add the vinegar gradually, and taste it before you add the rest to ensure the flavour is right.
  5. Mix the dressing with your hands to ensure it is mixed thoroughly into the salad.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving with the cevapi.
Ajvar (roast pepper relish)
Ajvar is another great side dish to serve with cevapi.
You can find jars at most continental deli's/ IGA supermarkets.
I find the Macedonian Ajvar is the best and most tastiest.
